NYS Teachers Pension Fund Tied to Vaccine Manufacturers

By Teresa Reile

Several legislators in NYS, namely the rather crass Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, (who recently gave the finger to his constituents but said that he was itching his nose), Sen. Brad Hoylman and Sen. David Carlucci have taken it upon themselves to lead the NY charge to strip people of the inalienable rights to their own bodies.

Specifically, they are pushing legislation that would end a parent’s right to opt out of vaccinating their children using a religious exemption.

But WHY?

In an article by Ken Girardin April 19, 2018, it was found that government unions spent more to influence state and local officials than real estate, trial lawyer, tobacco and hospital interests combined.

‘New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) spent $1.4 million, ranking fourth in isolation, according to the state Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) annual report.  Add to that the lobbying spending of NYSUT-affiliated United Federation of Teachers, United University Professions and the Professional Staff Congress (its CUNY local), and total education union spending came to $3.5 million, easily exceeding the $2.9 million spent by the Greater New York Hospital Association, which ranked first.

NYSUT and other government unions—those representing public employees almost exclusively—together spent at least $8.5 million to lobby state and local officials, based on reports from 75 of them.’

According to the March 31, 2019 NYS Teacher’s Retirement System Domestic Equity Holdings report, The NYS Teacher’s Retirement fund is heavily invested in three of the top five vaccine manufacturers:

GlaxoSmithKline with 57,300 shares at a value of 2,394,567

Pfizer with 9,201,092 shares with a value of 390,770,377

Merck with 4,216,222 at a value of 350,663,184

According to Crains NY Business on April 11, 2019, the United Federation of Teachers spent 1,303,679 on Lobbying and the United Teachers NYS spent 1,299,082 on lobbying.

This makes them the 7th and 8th largest lobbying groups in NYS.

Is it any wonder that vaccines are being pushed so heavily?

ALWAYS FOLLOW THE MONEY FOLKS.

Homeland Security’s Ken Cuccinelli driven out of D.C. bar after fight over immigration

The Trump administration’s acting deputy Homeland Security secretary was driven out of a Washington, D.C. bar Wednesday when the liberal former governor of Maryland publicly “shamed” him for carrying out the president’s immigration policies, according to a report.

—————–ME

why was HE told to leave and not the other idiot?

———-

Martin O’Malley, the former governor of Maryland, lit into Ken Cuccinelli at the Dubliner, a popular Irish bar on Capitol Hill, according to the Washington Post.

“Martin O’Malley just drove Ken Cuccinelli out of the Dubliner in DC w/ a passion-laced and shame-invoking tirade on behalf of immigrant refugee children!!!” tweeted Siobhan Arnold, a Villanova University media relations associate who was at the pub.

She later told the paper O’Malley said “something about [Cuccinelli’s] grandparents,” who may have been immigrants themselves — and Cuccinelli refused to respond.

“O’Malley was shouting,” Arnold said. “I don’t think Cuccinelli was responding. I think he’s like, ‘Time to go. Just got here and I’m leaving.’ He pretty much retreated.”

Cuccinelli quickly left the bar, which had been hosting an event for Gonzaga College High School graduates, which both men attended in the 1980s.

O’Malley — a former Baltimore mayor who was Maryland governor from 2007 to 2015 — disputed Arnold’s account, saying he raised his voice “just to be heard” in the pub and didn’t shout, the paper reported.

He admitted to venting his frustration over the Trump administration’s separation of migrant children from their parents, and the detention of immigrants in chain-link enclosures, according to the paper.

“We all let him know how we felt about him putting refugee immigrant kids in cages — certainly not what we were taught by the Jesuits at Gonzaga,” O’Malley told the paper via text.

Cuccinelli did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

From a culture that taught “stranger danger” to normalizing Pedophilia in ONE generation

I have two kids.  One is near 20 the other near 10.  The older one remembers being taught that strangers are scary.  The younger is removed from public school (in a “nice” school area) because of the newer curriculum that allows STRANGERS (teachers) to TEACH sex to young kids AND subjects such as HISTORY are NONE existent.  Science has turned to alchemy, where DNA is “changeable.”  Where Math is taught with concepts that only an adult can wrap their minds around.  And GYM and physical activity is bemoaned.

I am DONE!!!!!!! I was done.  When my oldest went to High School, in a NICE public school and I found out that the SCHOOL was supporting LGBTQ with clubs FOR that EXPRESS notion.  Beyond, the introduction, of “I’m gay” or whatever, then what ELSE is discussed?  Their SEXUALITY?  Why is the appropriate?  If someone started talking to a person at work about their sex, then that could be “sexual assault”, so why is it okay in schools AND why is it okay for TOTAL strangers (teachers) sexualizing KIDS?  It’s NOT okay for complete strangers, and some have been convicted of assaulting kids, to be exposing children to subjects that are not appropriate for ADULTS.  These discussions should be ONLY with FAMILY.  There is NO appropriate public discussion for SEX and more over ANAL – SEX.  THAT is not biologically NORMAL.  This is not what the MAJORITY rule represents.  The minority, which exists, is not the NORM.  Moreover, is this HEALTHY for society?  There are LONG term health issues that NO one is discussing.  Colo-rectal cancer? Perforation?  And many other issues.  When you go against NATURE, there are consequences.

I’m not the only one and YOU are not the only one that believe this is an assault on kids, but also an assault on HUMANITY

One such article also outlines that this is a WORLD WIDE agenda.  And that the PEOPLE have no choice.  It’s being DECIDED for us and not BY us.

WALSH: Sex-Ed Program Teaches Six-Year-Olds How To ‘Self-Stimulate.’ This Is Why Sex-Ed Should Be Abolished.

A new sex-ed curriculum recently instituted in some classrooms in the United Kingdom is one of the most blatant examples of institutionalized child sex abuse that we’ve seen in the West. As the Daily Mail reports, the All About Me program being unveiled in over 240 schools across the country would give very young children “rules” for “touching yourself.” The Mail offers details about these rules:

Under a section called Touching Myself, teachers are advised to tell children that ‘lots of people like to tickle or stroke themselves as it might feel nice.’ They are also instructed to inform youngsters that this may include touching their ‘private parts’ and, that while some people may say this behaviour is ‘dirty,’ it is in fact ‘very normal.’

It gets worse:
In the same lesson, children are given scenarios which they must judge to be ‘OK’ or ‘not OK.’
In one, pupils are told that when a girl called Autumn ‘has a bath and is alone she likes to touch herself between her legs. It feels nice.’
This is for six- and seven-year-olds, remember. Not that it would be any more appropriate for older children.
An overview of the All About Me program seems to indicate that this lesson plan will be very hands-on, in a literal sense:
Children will be given the opportunity to explore a variety of different touch and feel sensations and allowed to decide which they like and dislike.
By the end of the lesson, children will understand that just because they like how something feels does not mean that everyone feels the same.
By year four of the program, things get more specific:
Children will consider the rules of when it is appropriate to be naked or semi-naked and when it is appropriate to touch themselves, including self-stimulation.
And in year five, the kids will have graduated to discussions about erections and wet dreams:
Children will be informed of their own personal anatomy and the development of their genitals, including wet dreams, erections, self-stimulation, and menstruation.
A similar program was recently rolled out in South African schools, instructing kids on the wonders of masturbation, anal sex, and oral sex.
And lest you think we are safe from this madness here in the States, our own compulsory sex-ed curricula are not far removed from what’s described above. A recent “framework” for sex education in California features, among other things, graphic descriptions of sodomy and bondage.
What we’re witnessing here is not a “slippery slope” to the normalization of pedophilia. This is pedophilia. There’s no more slope. We’ve reached the bottom, which isn’t to say that we can’t pull out a shovel and continue our descent. My point is simply that these “programs” are a form of widespread, institutionalized child sexual abuse. The administrators who approve this material are predators, and the teachers who teach it are complicit. The “I’m just following orders” excuse rarely gets you off the moral hook, and it certainly doesn’t in this case.
But we should not be surprised by this. It is the inevitable consequence of allowing public schools to teach “sex-ed” in the first place. There is, it turns out, no non-creepy way for schools to handle the topic. There is no approach that isn’t at least inappropriate, and at worst abuse. That’s because schools have no business delivering lectures on sexuality, no matter what is being said about it. By broaching the subject, they are already treading on ground where they don’t belong. It’s no wonder that they marched all the way to this point.
As far as schools are concerned, sex should be a purely scientific subject. Teach the kids about anatomy. Teach them where babies come from. Teach them the facts of human reproduction. That’s it. The children don’t need to hear, and should not hear, the teacher’s personal views on what kind of touching is appropriate, and what sort of sex positions are enjoyable, and “when it is appropriate to be naked or semi-naked,” whether our cultural attitudes towards sexuality are repressive, and so on. None of that constitutes objective scientific information. It is, at best, the subjective view point of the person who came up with the lesson plan. And subjective view points about sexuality have no place — at all — in a school.
This is not a pitch for “abstinence education.” Abstinence programs are certainly less creepy and less morally fraught than some of this other stuff, but I don’t want my child’s teacher to give him tips on how to avoid having sex any more than I want her giving tips on how to have it. It’s simply none of her business, either way. She is an unwelcome intruder. Just because I send my kids to school to learn the ABCs and 123s doesn’t mean I also want them to be indoctrinated into Mrs. Wilson’s personal philosophy on human sexuality. Actually I don’t send my kids to school at all — we homeschool — but the point stands.
If it would be considered a gross infringement for a teacher to stand up and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the middle of algebra class, why is it any less of a gross infringement for a teacher to proclaim the Gospel of Sexual Enlightenment — the Gospel of Freud, basically — in the middle of health class? You might argue that schools “have to teach it” because parents refuse to do it themselves. But where does that end? There are many ethical, moral, and spiritual lessons that parents often fail to impart to their children. Should schools then become churches, daycare centers, therapists, spiritual gurus, and sex coaches all rolled into one, just to compensate for lackadaisical parenting? Schools don’t automatically inherit the right to teach whatever a parent doesn’t teach.
Besides, parents might “refuse” to teach their children how to masturbate because they, as parents, feel (rightly) that such a lesson would be extremely bizarre and inappropriate, and probably warranting a visit from CPS. It might be a teacher’s opinion that parents should teach those things, but her opinion is irrelevant. It’s also, in this case, insane. That’s why schools should stick to the academic basics. Reading, writing, arithmetic, etc. It is not their job, or their right, to go beyond that.

Obama set Kevin Jennings — see the last article I’m attaching –HE was a major contributor and supporter of NAMBLA

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Monday Austin Independent School District’s board is set to vote on the controversial new sex-education curriculum.

The proposed curriculum spans grades three through eight. Under the new curriculum, for the first time, the district will teach students about gender identity and sexual orientation. The lessons will also help kids identify an adult they can trust; plus talk to them about options if they get pregnant, and seventh graders would learn how to use a condom.

These topics have led to some public discussions in the past. Supporters and opposers have made it clear they will be in attendance Monday ahead of the vote.

Local supporters include Informed Parents of Austin, a group of AISD parents advocating for “policies in the Austin Independent School District that pertain to the LGBTQ community.” The group’s mission also includes working to “counter the efforts of any group which has a mission of removing anti-bullying and equality policies from AISD.”

Matt Shead is part of the group’s executive team and believes the proposed curriculum creates an inclusive environment and informs students on what to expect.

“I think it’s really important that our sex-ed curriculum talks about the biology of our body parts, what’s coming down the line when we hit puberty, healthy communication and outline what a healthy relationship looks like,” he said.

Shead said these conversations are already taking place in his household and would like for everyone to be on the same page.

“I want to know the administration, teachers, parents all have the same language that we are using to talk about these things to minimize confusion,” he added.

MORE: Parents sound off on new sex-ed curriculum at Monday AISD school board meeting

Opposers have been very vocal about where they stand. KXAN spoke with Carol Ayala with Concerned Parents of Texas about her opposition to the changes to the district’s sex-ed curriculum in September.

“It is important for the children because they should know when we send them to school, that parents are actually sending them to read, write, and to do math,” said Ayala. “To educate them academically. That’s exactly what I was hired to do. Was to teach them. Not to moralize them or demoralize them, as in this case.”

While not everyone is against sex-ed in the classroom, some parents like MJ Alvardo believe some of the subject matter is not age-appropriate.

“I’m concerned because the curriculum is very advanced and some parents feel that it is not age-appropriate,” she said. “It introduces and normalizes advance sexual behaviors to children at a very young age and perhaps places ideas in their mind that might not have been there before and can potentially lead to some early and unhealthy sexual behaviors.”

RELATED: AISD working on sex-ed curriculum as parents share transparency concerns

AISD leaders said despite what the board decides Monday, parents will have the option to opt their children out from the sex-ed curriculum lessons.

“Please take the time to look at the lessons to make a decision about what’s right for you and your family and your child,” Kathy Ryan, the director of academics at the district said.

Ryan said while the district is working on overhauling its current curriculum, she said the board has already approved the scope and sequence, “these are just lessons that align with that scope and sequence.”

Ryan also said the district will make abstinence a priority.

“That is what we are talking about first,” Ryan said. “On lessons where that topic may come up it is something where the teacher will be talking about first upfront — abstinence is the best policy.”

The new curriculum, if approved Monday, could be taught as early as May 2020.

Obama’s “Safe Schools Czar” Kevin Jennings

Written by

kevin jennings educationOver the past few months, a movement has been growing to expel President Obama’s “Safe Schools Czar” Kevin Jennings from his post. The effort has been led primarily by Christian groups such as Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH), MassResistance, Focus on the Family, Concerned Women of America, and the American Family Association.

These organizations and other researchers have uncovered a considerable number of alarming facts about Jennings that draw into question how he ever could have been nominated, let alone approved for the appointment.

Aside from Fox News, the major media organizations have either ignored the issue or dismissed the concerns of Jennings’ critics as a witch hunt by religious zealots. However, as in the cases of the Obama ACORN scandals and the revelations that led to the firing of “Green Jobs Czar” Van Jones, the mainstream media may not be able to keep a lid on the Jennings scandals much longer. Among the many disturbing particulars in Jennings’ resumé that call out for investigation and explanation, we find:

• “Brewstergate” — the case of a young student, “Brewster,” whom Jennings knew was having sex with an older man he’d met in a bus station restroom.

• “Fistgate” — the case in which Massachusetts public school educators sponsored by GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network — founded and run by Kevin Jennings) instructed children as young as 12 years old on explicit homosexual practices, including such dangerous practices as “fisting.”<

“NAMBLAgate” — Jennings has repeatedly expressed admiration for the late Harry Hay, a member of the Communist Party and one of the most militant homosexuals of the past century. Hay was an icon and sort of “senior statesman” in NAMBLA, the North American Man-Boy Love Association, the militant pederast group.

• “QueerSchoolsgate” — Jennings wrote the foreword to Queering Elementary Education and has admitted that he developed the “anti-bullying” label as a way to present the pro-homosexual agenda as a “safety” issue; Jennings’ GLSEN brigades have subjected millions of school children to forced “queering” sessions through various GLSEN-sponsored programs.

• “Act-Upgate” — Jennings is a longtime activist in the militant homosexual group Act-Up, which broke many laws, invaded churches, and physically assaulted clergymen and Christian worshipers. Jennings is notorious for viciously smearing, sometimes in very foul language (both in his writings and speeches) Christians who disapprove of homosexual behavior. He also advocates censoring former homosexuals who warn youngsters against the “gay” lifestyle.

• “Drug-gate” — Jennings, who runs the federal Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, has written rather ambiguously about his own drug and alcohol abuse — expressing no regrets and even romanticizing it — leaving open to question whether he is encouraging or discouraging drug use among our youth.

On October 5, Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) became the first Member of Congress to call on President Obama to fire Jennings. King’s statement charged:

Kevin Jennings lacks the appropriate qualifications and ethical standards to serve in a presidential administration…. His life’s work has been the promotion of homosexuality, even in elementary schools, and he has demonstrated no qualifications to make students safer in our schools. Jennings is committed to the “safety” of only a narrow portion of American students, while expressing disdain for religion and traditional values. President Obama should fire Kevin Jennings immediately.

On October 15, Rep. King issued another call to the President, this time in the form of a letter signed by an additional 52 House Republicans. The letter states, in part:

As the founder of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), Mr. Jennings has played an integral role in promoting homosexuality and pushing a pro-homosexual agenda in America’s schools — an agenda that runs counter to the values that many parents desire to instill in their children. As evidence of this, Mr. Jennings wrote the foreword for a book titled Queering Elementary Education: Advancing the Dialogue About Sexualities and Schooling. Throughout his career, Mr. Jennings has made it his mission to establish special protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered students to the exclusion of all other students. The totality of Mr. Jennings’ career has been to advocate for public affirmation of homosexuality. There is more to safe and drug free schools than can be accomplished from the narrow view of Mr. Jennings who has, for more than 20 years, almost exclusively focused on promoting the homosexual agenda.

Media Censor Jennings Story

The Obama administration has ignored the growing clamor over Jennings thus far. It has been able to do so only because its journalistic allies in the media have continued to cover up the troubling issue. The “Brewstergate” story is a good example. “Brewster” is the name given by Jennings to a troubled boy he counseled while teaching at Concord Academy in Concord, Massachusetts. Jennings mentions Brew-ster in his 1994 book, One Teacher in Ten: Gay and lesbian educators tell their stories, as well as in a speech to a GLSEN rally in 2000. He also brings him up in two 2005 articles in publications of the National Education Association (NEA). Brew-ster appears again in Jennings’ 2006 autobiography, Mama’s Boy, Preacher’s Son: A Memoir, but with his name changed to “Robertson,” without explanation.

In his 2000 speech, Jennings says that Brewster was 15 years old when he came to him and mentioned he’d met a man in the lavatory of the Boston bus station and had gone home with him. The assumption is that Brewster had sex with the man. Jennings assumed so and advised Brewster “to use a condom.” The Brewster account brings up some crucial issues bearing on Jennings’ worthiness to hold the “Safe Schools” post. First, there is Brewster’s age. Jennings said Brewster was 15 at the time. But in 2004, this became an issue when a conservative NEA teacher contested Jennings’ suitability to receive an NEA award. Jennings then insisted that Brewster had been 16 years old, which would have made him old enough under Massachusetts law for consensual sex with an adult. And Jennings would not have been covering up a statutory rape, and would appear to be off the hook from a legal standpoint.

During the current controversy, Jennings has again claimed Brewster was 16, and seems to have proof, in that a man claiming to be Brewster has come forward and produced a driver’s license showing a birth date that proved he was 16 years old at the time of the incident. The man has not given his real name, nor has he allowed himself to be photographed or videotaped; all details on his driver’s license except for his birth date have been digitally obscured. We have no way, at this time, of verifying that the man who has come forward is indeed Brewster, or that the driver’s license is authentic. However, if we accept it as genuine, does that end Jennings legal culpability in the matter? Not at all, since, as a teacher, he was required under Massachusetts’ mandatory reporting law to report Brewster’s sexual relations with adults.

In his autobiographical Mama’s Boy, Preacher’s Son, Jennings expands on the story of Brewster, whom he has renamed Robertson:

Robertson soon told me his tale, about someone he’d met in Boston, how he thought he loved him, and how heartbroken he was that his calls never got returned. I suppressed a smile at his naivete (this won’t be the last time that happens, kid) and tried to look sympathetic about his lost true love — who I didn’t have the heart to tell him, had probably forgotten Robertson’s name by now.

Further on in the book, Jennings gives more evidence of troubling behavior by Brewster/Robertson that should have caused any teacher with common sense to have taken action. He writes:

As the fall wore on, Robertson continued to drop by my office to chat, often updating me on his latest “adventures.” Sometimes these startled me, and I began to underline the importance of safe sex to him. One day he snapped back, “Why should I use a condom? My life isn’t worth saving, anyway.”

Let’s recap: Brewster/Robertson, a 15-to-16-year-old “troubled kid” who is abusing drugs and regularly traveling unsupervised to Boston (45 minutes away) to have sex with men (at least one of whom he met in a bus station restroom), repeatedly tells Jennings of these “adventures.” Jennings knows that the boy is suffering from depression and believes that his life is not worth saving. He knows that the boy is crushed by rejection of a sex partner he thought was his true love. Jennings, who is well aware of the promiscuity of the homosexual community and how vulnerable a youngster like Brewster can be when thrown into that adult environment, can only muster a vapid warning to “use a condom.” Jennings’ own partner had just died of AIDS, and news stories of AIDS and other STDs ravaging the homosexual community were making daily headlines, but all Jennings could tell Brewster was to “use a condom.” He didn’t inform the school administration, Brewster’s parents, or any other authorities regarding the serious peril this young adolescent was in.

Responding to public pressure, on September 30, Jennings issued a statement through the Department of Education:

Twenty one years later I can see how I should have handled this situation differently. I should have asked for more information and consulted legal or medical authorities. Teachers back then had little training or guidance about this kind of thing. All teachers should have a basic level of preparedness. I would like to see the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools play a bigger role in helping to prepare teachers.

However, the Jennings statement expresses no regret, it is simply an acknowledgment that he should have acted differently. And this only after conservative activists and Fox News made the “Brewster” incident into an issue that refused to go away. But the kicker is that Jennings has turned his failure into a reason to entrust him to prepare “all teachers.”

The Intolerant Bully

For the past decade and a half, Jennings and his GLSEN brigade — with abundant assistance from the Ford Foundation, the NEA, the American Federation of Teachers, IBM, PepsiCo, CitiGroup, and other sponsors — have been transforming our schools by their very deceitful use of the “school safety” issue. Jennings and his GLSEN cohorts insist they are merely trying to make our schools safer by stopping bullying. No one wants to see children bullied, beaten, threatened, or bloodied at school; the classroom and the schoolyard should be safe sanctuaries. However, as Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council points out, the GLSEN “safety” label papers over a much more ambitious agenda. He notes:

Some might be tempted to support the “safe schools” agenda as long as it is limited to ending bullying, and does not extend to actively affirming or promoting homosexuality. However, in a 1995 speech, Jennings admitted that the rhetoric about “safety” was a political device, saying that it “threw our opponents on the defensive, and stole their best line of attack. This framing short-circuited their arguments and left them back-pedaling.” In a 1997 speech he embraced the idea of actively “promoting” homosexuality, looking forward to a day when “people, when they would hear that someone was promoting homosexuality, would say, ‘Yeah, who cares?’” And an unsigned article on the GLSEN website in 2000 declared, “The pursuit of safety and affirmation are one and the same goal.”

It is this deviousness of Jennings and GLSEN that is most alarming, especially now that they have captured citadels of power inside the massive federal bureaucracy of the U.S. Department of Education and appear to have the full blessings of the Obama White House to work their way with our children. “Tolerance,” for them, is just the opening wedge, leading to affirmation, promotion, and celebration of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) “lifestyles.”

“I don’t want to be tolerated. I don’t want to be put up with. I want to be … celebrated,” says GLSEN leader Stephen Glassman. In his book Always My Child, Jennings demands a “diversity policy that mandates including LGBT themes in the curriculum.” But Jennings, GLSEN & Co. have redefined tolerance and diversity to fit their own agenda; they have no tolerance, for example, for former homosexuals who now warn youngsters of the dangers of the “gay” lifestyle. Tolerance and diversity are a one-way street, says sex-ed traffic cop Jennings, which must always lead to an LGBT destination. “Ex-gay messages have no place in our nation’s public schools,” Jennings has declared. “A line has been drawn. There is no ‘other side’ when you’re talking about lesbian, gay and bisexual students.”

Like other leaders of the radical homosexual lobby, Jennings piously intones the rhetoric of “tolerance” and “respect” to win public acceptance of the lobby’s agenda. But he is decidedly intolerant toward Protestant Evangelicals and Catholics who oppose perversion in the classroom. Typical of Jennings’ respect and tolerance for “diversity” of opinion is this infamous comment of his in a speech in 2000:

We have to quit being afraid of the religious right. We also have to quit — I’m trying to find a way to say this. I’m trying not to say, “F – – – ’em!” which is what I want to say, because I don’t care what they think! Drop dead!

“Act Up” is one of the most aggressive and intolerant of the militant homosexual groups, alienating even many of the “moderates” in the homosexual movement with their acts of violence and their vicious anti-Christian rhetoric and actions. Jennings and his longtime partner Jeff Davis are veteran activists in Act Up. Too bad nobody questioned Jennings about any of his Act Up activities that may have violated the rights of Christians.

Jennings is listed as a financial contributor to the offensive and obscene Act Up exhibit at the Harvard University Museum entitled ACT UP New York: Activism, Art, and the AIDS Crisis, 1987 – 1993. One exhibit puts a photo of Cardinal John O’Connor, former Roman Catholic cardinal of New York City, next to a condom, with the caption: “KNOW YOUR SCUMBAGS.” In another, former President Ronald Reagan is targeted as a murderer of homosexuals. The title under his photo is, “He Kills Me.” Former President George Bush, the elder, is the subject of a poster that has “SERIAL KILLER” plastered over his forehead. Underneath in slightly smaller type is the subhead: “ONE AIDS DEATH EVERY 12 MINUTES … LIP SERVICE IS NO SOLUTION TO THE AIDS CRISIS.”

Other items in the exhibit are too pornographic to mention. However, literature, films, and graphics every bit as “provocative” as the Harvard exhibit may already be in your children’s schools, thanks to the efforts of Kevin Jennings, GLSEN, the NEA, and their allies.

Firefox

As part of its Enhanced Tracking Protection feature, Mozilla is planning on blocking Fingerprinters by default in Firefox 72, which is slated to be released in January 2020.

Fingerprinters are a tracking method that allows a company to track you based on characteristics of your computer rather than through tracking cookies.

It does this by building a profile of your device based on its characteristics such as the screen resolution, the browser you use, timezone, language, installed extensions, the installed fonts, and your operating system.

All of this information is compiled into a unique fingerprint that can be used to track you through the different sites you visit on the Internet.

Starting with Firefox 72, the browser will automatically block Fingerprinters on any sites that you visit through its Enhanced Tracking Protection feature.

Fingerprinter blocking enabled by default
Fingerprinter blocking enabled by default

If you do not want to wait and wish to block Fingerprinters now, you can enable it by using the Custom setting in Firefox’s Enhanced Tracking Protection.

Ilhan Omar- her treason is a result of her ESPIONAGE and upbringing by her grandfather, a Communist who worked for the GENOCIDAL Mohammed Siad Barre

Ilhan Omar ‘Qatari asset,’ Florida court hears

The Democratic Congresswoman is said to have passed information to Qatar which was subsequently handed along to Iran.

Ilhan Omar was recruited by a foreign government, received funding from a foreign government, and passed sensitive information through intermediates to Iran, a Florida court has been told.

The claims came during testimony by Kuwati-born Canadian businessman Alan Bender, who was giving evidence in the trial of Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani. The Qatari emir’s brother stands accused of ordering his American bodyguard to murder two people, and of holding an American citizen hostage. His deposition, obtained by Al Arabiya English, was authenticated by the attorney for the plaintiffs, according to the publication.

Speaking from Toronto by video link, Bender told the Florida District Court that he met with Qatar’s Secretary to the Emir for Security Affairs Mohammad bin Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Masnad and two other senior Qatari officials.

According to his sworn deposition, the three officials told him: “If it wasn’t for our cash, Ilhan Omar would be just another black Somali refugee in America collecting welfare and serving tables on weekends.”

Bender testified that the officials asked him to recruit American politicians and journalists as Qatari assets, and that when he objected, was told that several prominent figures were already on the payroll. US Congresswoman Omar was described as the “jewel in the crown,” he said.

Qatar “recruited Ilhan Omar from even way before she thought about becoming a government official. […] They groomed her and arranged the foundation, the grounds, for her to get into politics way before she even showed interest. They convinced her,” he added.

The deposition shows he further told the court that, during a 2017 meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Omar swore allegiance to him. At the time she was a junior state representative in Minnesota.

Omar was said to also have passed information to Qatar which was subsequently handed along to Iran, and was actively involved in recruiting other American politicians to likewise work for Qatar, Bender testified.

“The best thing money can buy are American officials because they are the cheapest of the cheapest costing officials in the world,” the Qatari officials were said to have told him.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Congresswoman Omar told The Jerusalem Post  “Since the day she was elected, Saudi Arabian trolls and mouthpieces have targeted Rep. Omar with misinformation and conspiracy theories.”

“The latest outlandishly absurd story from a Saudi-funded media outlet is of course false and only the latest in that trend,” they said. “The only people Rep. Omar represents in Washington are the people of Minnesota’s 5th District. She will continue to speak out against human rights violations around the world—whether it is war crimes in Yemen or the caging of children at our border—regardless of who commits them.”

Omar has already been found by the Minnesota Campaign Finance Board to have broken campaign finance rules, by improperly using campaign money for out-of-state travel while a state representative. Conservative group Judicial Watch has also called on the House Ethics Committee to investigate Omar for alleged offenses, including immigration fraud. But these claims go much further.

Omar was one of 107 House Democrats who co-signed a letter Thursday, calling on Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to reverse his announcement on the legality of West Bank settlements. The signatories claimed such a move “severely damaged prospects for peace” in the region.

The fact that the Palestinians do not want peace is not severely damaging prospects for peace? “We will drive them in to the sea” – that’s real peaceful ?

Ilhan Omar was 14 years old and interpreting for her grandfather in political affairs.  He was a COMMUNIST and worked for the GENOCIDAL Mohammed Siad Barre regime.  WHY was this person let in to the US?  LET ALONE be allowed in Congress?

Family Matters: How a US Member of Congress was Raised by the Red-Green Axis

Most people’s worldviews are heavily influenced during their formative years. Those influences, and their roots, are important to discern among our national leaders.

The election of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is often seen as a celebration of diversity: An immigrant from the wasteland of Somalia, and one of the first two Muslim women, elected to the United States Congress.

Omar personifies the Red-Green Axis: an ideological and political combination of Marxism-Leninism and Islamism.

A look at Omar’s upbringing is a key to identifying her extremism, and where she wants to take the country that took in her and her family.

Family beholden to Communist-Islamist Somalia dictator

Somalian dictator Mohammed Siad Barre, whom the Omar family served.

Omar spent the first ten years of her life as a member of a family that owed its livelihood to the regime of Mohammed Siad Barre. Her family is described as “civil servants and educators” – all dependent on the regime and executing its orders.

Her father was a “teacher trainer.” Omar has never explained exactly what a “teacher trainer” in Somalia was or did in the Siad Barre government.

A teacher trainer in any revolutionary communist regime is the political commissar who trains teachers on how to indoctrinate children.

Congressman Omar’s father was a professional propagandist for the Communist-Islamist dictatorship. Of course, the sins of the father cannot be attributed to the child – unless the child carries on the father’s legacy.

This is why it’s so important to look at Ilhan Omar’s formative years.

Combination of Qur’an, Marx, Lenin, Mao, and Mussolini

After seizing power by coup d’etat in 1969, Siad Barre declared a Marxist-Leninist regime that he began to infuse with elements drawn from Islamist political thought. The United Nations country profile of Somalia explains:

“The theoretical underpinning of the state ideology combined aspects of the Qur’an with the influences of Marx, Lenin, Mao, and Mussolini, but Siad Barre was pragmatic in its application. ‘Socialism is not a religion,’ he explained; ‘It is a political principle’ to organize government and manage production. Somalia’s alignment with communist states, coupled with its proclaimed adherence to scientific socialism, led to frequent accusations that the country had become a Soviet satellite. For all the rhetoric extolling scientific socialism, however, genuine Marxist sympathies were not deep-rooted in Somalia. But the ideology was acknowledged – partly in view of the country’s economic and military dependence on the Soviet Union – as the most convenient peg on which to hang a revolution introduced through a military coup that had supplanted a Western-oriented parliamentary democracy.”

To supplant that Western-oriented parliamentary democracy in a country defined most by tribes, Siad Barre needed – in addition to tough enforcement mechanisms like property confiscation and a powerful secret police – softer mechanisms like cadres of “teacher trainers.”

Training and indoctrination

The job of the teacher trainers was to indoctrinate teachers in the government-run school systems to impose that Qur’anic-Marxist-Leninist-Maoist-Mussolini hybrid.

Nur Omar Mohamed, father of Ilhan Omar, was one of those indoctrinators.

As Siad Barre consolidated control, “civil servants attended reorientation courses that combined professional training with political indoctrination, and those found to be incompetent or politically unreliable were fired,” according to the UN country profile. “A mass dismissal of civil servants in 1974, however, was dictated in part by economic pressures.”

Nur Omar Mohamed was loyal enough to save his job.

The regime set out to break apart traditional societal structures and atomize them into powerlessness, while it imposed its own central controls. For this, the teacher trainers were vital.

“Local councils, composed of military administrators and representatives appointed by the SRC [Supreme Revolutionary Council], were established under the Ministry of Interior at the regional, district, and village levels to advise the government on local conditions and to expedite its directives,” the UN country profile says.

“Other institutional innovations included the organization (under Soviet direction) of the National Security Service (NSS), directed initially at halting the flow of professionals and dissidents out of the country and at counteracting attempts to settle disputes among the clans by traditional means,” according to the profile. The UN report continues:

“The newly formed Ministry of Information and National Guidance set up local political education bureaus to carry the government’s message to the people and used Somalia’s print and broadcast media for the ‘success of the socialist, revolutionary road.’ A censorship board, appointed by the ministry, tailored information to SRC guidelines.”

Was Ilhan Omar’s father a part of the “local political education bureaus”? We don’t yet know.  But those bureaus would have required teacher trainers in order to train the existing teachers about what to teach Somalian children.

Red-Green Axis in Somalia

Siad Barre was building what is now called a Red-Green Axis. That is the combination of the red of Communism with the green of Islam.

The UN country profile on Somalia continues:

“Somalia’s adherence to socialism became official on the first anniversary of the military coup when Siad Barre proclaimed that Somalia was a socialist state, despite the fact that the country had no history of class conflict in the Marxist sense. For purposes of Marxist analysis, therefore, tribalism was equated with class in a society struggling to liberate itself from distinctions imposed by lineage group affiliation. At the time, Siad Barre explained that the official ideology consisted of three elements: his own conception of community development based on the principle of self-reliance, a form of socialism based on Marxist principles, and Islam. These were subsumed under ‘scientific socialism,’ although such a definition was at variance with the Soviet and Chinese models to which reference was frequently made.

“One of the SRC’s first acts was to prohibit the existence of any political association. Under Soviet pressure to create a communist party structure to replace Somalia’s military regime, Siad Barre had announced as early as 1971 the SRC’s intention to establish a one-party state. The SRC already had begun organizing what was described as a “vanguard of the revolution” composed of members of a socialist elite drawn from the military and the civilian sectors. The National Public Relations Office (retitled the National Political Office in 1973) was formed to propagate scientific socialism with the support of the Ministry of Information and National Guidance through orientation centers that had been built around the country, generally as local selfhelp projects.

“The SRC convened a congress of the Somali Revolutionary Socialist Party (SRSP) in June 1976 and voted to establish the Supreme Council as the new party’s central committee. The council included the nineteen officers who composed the SRC, in addition to civilian advisers, heads of ministries, and other public figures. Civilians accounted for a majority of the Supreme Council’s seventy-three members. On July 1, 1976, the SRC dissolved itself, formally vesting power over the government in the SRSP under the direction of the Supreme Council.

“In theory the SRSP’s creation marked the end of military rule, but in practice real power over the party and the government remained with the small group of military officers who had been most influential in the SRC. Decision-making power resided with the new party’s politburo, a select committee of the Supreme Council that was composed of five former SRC members, including Siad Barre and his son-in-law, NSS chief Abdullah. Siad Barre was also secretary general of the SRSP, as well as chairman of the Council of Ministers, which had replaced the CSS in 1981. Military influence in the new government increased with the assignment of former SRC members to additional ministerial posts. The MOD circle also had wide representation on the Supreme Council and in other party organs. Upon the establishment of the SRSP, the National Political Office was abolished; local party leadership assumed its functions.”

Collapse

Siad Barre struggled to stay in power, shifting loyalties from the USSR to the United States by virtue of a strategic naval port, waging the Ogaden war against Soviet ally Ethiopia, and relying purely on foreign handouts to keep the economy moving.

Before long, he ratcheted up political repression, arresting prominent figures and even former allies, and setting Red Beret goon squads into the streets.

“Faced with saboteurs by day and sniper fire by night, Siad Barre ordered remaining units of the badly demoralized Red Berets to massacre civilians,” the UN profile report says. “By 1989 torture and murder became the order of the day in Mogadishu. On July 9, 1989, Somalia’s Italian-born Roman Catholic bishop, Salvatore Colombo, was gunned down in his church in Mogadishu by an unknown assassin. The order to murder the bishop, an outspoken critic of the regime, was widely believed to have had come from the presidential palace.”

Exhumed remains of victims of Somalia’s Isaaq Genocide, 1988-89. (Photo: Wikimedia Commons)

“On the heels of the bishop’s murder came the July 14 massacre, when the Red Berets slaughtered 450 Muslims demonstrating against the arrest of their spiritual leaders. More than 2,000 were seriously injured. The next day, forty-seven people, mainly from the Isaaq clan, were taken to Jasiira Beach west of the city and summarily executed,” according to the UN report.

The Isaaq genocide of 1988-89 exterminated between 60,000 and 100,000 Somalis.

Without Siad Barre dictator as their patron, the Omar family flees

By 1991, the Siad Barre regime collapsed as the country tore itself apart in civil war. Regime loyalists – families like Ilhan Omar’s – could find no safety any more in Somalia. They fled to Kenya, and ultimately made it to the United States.

When they moved to the United States in 1995, they brought their Red-Green ideological baggage with them.

Two years before, Congress, at the urging of the Clinton administration, abolished the law requiring that would-be immigrants declare whether they had belonged to a foreign Communist party. The Omar family was able to move to America without that important element of screening.

No sooner did the family settle in Minneapolis when Ilhan Omar, at age 14, began to get involved in politics. She interpreted for her grandfather, a Siad Barre servant, at political meetings. In high school, she became active in student politics.

From there, the Red-Green Axis import from Somalia, put down her own political roots, became a community organizer, and laid her path to the United States Congress.

Omar is not known to have been critical of the Siad Barre regime or the horrors it inflicted during her childhood in Somalia.

ONE drop of blood – a test for 13 different cancers

Toshiba says its device tests for 13 cancer types with 99% accuracy from a single drop of blood

KYODO, JIJI

Toshiba Corp. has developed technology to detect 13 types of cancer from a single drop of blood with 99 percent accuracy, the company announced Monday.

Toshiba developed the diagnosis method together with the National Cancer Center Research Institute and Tokyo Medical University, and hopes to commercialize it in “several years” after starting a trial next year.

The method could be used to treat cancer in its early stage, it said.

The method is designed to examine the types and concentration of microRNA molecules secreted in blood from cancer cells. Toray Industries Inc. and other companies have also developed technologies to diagnose cancer using microRNA molecules from a blood sample.

“Compared to other companies’ methods, we have an edge in the degree of accuracy in cancer detection, the time required for detection and the cost,” Koji Hashimoto, chief research scientist at Toshiba’s Frontier Research Laboratory, told a press briefing.

The test will be used to detect gastric, esophageal, lung, liver, biliary tract, pancreatic, bowel, ovarian, prostate, bladder and breast cancers as well as sarcoma and glioma.

Toshiba has developed a chip and a small device that can conduct the diagnosis in less than two hours. A blood test using it is expected to cost ¥20,000 or less, it said.

It is possible that the device will be used in health checkups, the company said.

In its five-year business strategy from April 2019, Toshiba has positioned medical businesses, including genome analysis and cell diagnosis, among key growth pillars along with automation, batteries and digital solutions using artificial intelligence.

Human Rights Watch staffer for ISRAEL supported the BDS movement. Now shocked at being expelled?

This guy is actively and Seditiously ACTING against the country he’s supposedly a human right watcher for?  To say that thats like the fox guarding the hens house is an understatement.  This fox is literally INSIDE the hen house and having a feast.

Israel first democracy to expel Human Rights Watch staffer, director says

HRW’s supervisor for Israel and Palestinian territories is to be deported from Israel on Monday over alleged support of BDS movement
Ken Roth, left, executive director of HRW, and Omar Shakir, director for Israel and Palestinian Territories, in Jerusalem on Sunday (AFP)

Israel is set to expel a Human Rights Watch employee, its executive director Ken Roth said on Sunday, denouncing the forthcoming deportation of one of his staffers.

US citizen Omar Shakir, the New York-based rights group’s director for Israel and the Palestinian territories, is to be deported from Israel on Monday over his alleged support of a boycott of the country, AFP said.

Israel accuses him of being a supporter of the banned Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which calls for a broad-ranging boycott to pressure Israel to end its rights abuses against Palestinians.

The expulsion, upheld by Israel’s supreme court, would make Shakir the first HRW official to be expelled from the country under a controversial 2017 law allowing the deportation of foreigners who support the boycott, according to authorities.

Israel’s supreme court orders expulsion of Human Rights Watch campaigner

Shakir told the Associated Press on Sunday that he will remain in his position and continue doing the “important, urgent work” of documenting violations in Israel and the Palestinian territories from abroad.

“We’re talking about a half-century-long occupation defined by systematic repression and institutional discrimination,” Shakir told the AP. “That requires important, urgent work, and it’s unfortunate that I won’t be able to do it on the ground, but we won’t stop doing it.”

HRW denies Shakir supports the BDS movement and accuses Israel of seeking to suppress criticism of policies towards Palestinians.

“I cannot think of another democracy that has barred a Human Rights Watch researcher,” Roth told AFP in Jerusalem.

Roth said countries including North Korea, Venezuela and Iran have expelled HRW researchers, but that no functioning democracy had taken such action.

“I think it demonstrates the increasingly constrained nature of Israeli democracy,” Roth added.

He said Israel, despite having elections and a free press, tries “as much as it can” to silence efforts “spotlighting the human rights violations at the heart of the oppressive, discriminatory occupation (of Palestinian land).

Shakir has been fighting a lengthy legal campaign against expulsion, but earlier this month Israel’s supreme court upheld the government’s decision to deport him.

Israel sees the BDS movement as a strategic threat and accuses it of antisemitism – a claim activists strongly deny.

Supporters compare it with the economic isolation that helped bring down apartheid South Africa.

Critical of settlements

“All those who work against Israel must know that we will not let them live or work here,” Israeli Interior Minister Aryeh Deri said earlier this month.

The case against Shakir was initially based on statements he made in support of a boycott before taking up his post with HRW.

The government case also highlighted work he has done since joining HRW, including criticising Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

“Neither Human Rights Watch nor I as its representative have ever called for a boycott of Israel,” Shakir told AFP.

Still, he said that the organisation did not restrict free speech, including the right to call for a boycott.

“It is undeniable that boycotts around the world have led to changing unjust systems, but Human Rights Watch doesn’t take a position on them,” he added.

Brave Journalist goes to Iraq and uncovers under aged prostitution disguised as religious marriage.

Islam is an affront to civility and femininity.  Women are treated horribly and poor women even worse.  Advancement of a civilization can be somewhat gauged by the way they care for the ones less fortunate or meekest among them.  In the Middle East we see staggering barbarism and a backwardness that precedes Biblical times.  They murder children and force enslavement. The Bible helped to make it wrong, however, not all believe it is and Islam is on the rise.  Has the middle east advanced?  What have THEY created?

The majority of innovation in the ME comes from a tiny Israel, where medicine and technology are part of our current modernity.  The only technology coming out of the Islamic Theocracy seems to be the type that is either stolen or for use of waging WAR.  Is that all Islam TEACHES as a virtue?  WAR?  Yet, even war should have a premise.  What is the premise for which WAR is the pinnacle of virtue for a Muslim?  Does war have purpose?  To what END?  What ENDS WAR?  What is then the definition of peace, as Islam recognizes it?

I have never gotten a coherent reply to this question.  Once, someone said when the whole world in under the Caliph.  Yet, when I look around, there are a few places that are 100 percent Islamic, yet they still wage jihad against one another.  So, what is PEACE in terms of Islam?

I went undercover to expose Iraq’s secret sex trade, and what I discovered shocked me to my core

I still can’t reveal who I am, and I won’t be able to return to the country for a while. But when I think about the awful things I witnessed, I know revealing the truth was worth it

“Would you be willing to find me a younger girl – perhaps around 12?”

I can’t believe the words that are coming out of my mouth. I’m in the heart of Baghdad and the man in front of me is a well-respected Shia sheikh who runs a marriage office that advertises religious weddings. What he doesn’t advertise is that he can also perform muta’a marriages – temporary “pleasure marriages”, which ensure that sex with young girls is halaal, or permissible according to Islam. I’ve heard rumours that he is willing to use this religious loophole to organise prostitution with girls as young as 12.

The sheikh has no idea that I’m a journalist from BBC News Arabic. He thinks that I’m an Iraqi dentist, in town from London and looking for a young girl to make my business trip more enjoyable. With no knowledge that my hidden camera is rolling, he is more than happy to find me a 12-year-old temporary bride – for a fee, of course.

“What happens if I hurt her?” I ask, wanting to see how he responds to the idea that a grown man like myself could cause physical and psychological harm to a young girl. My secret camera is cupped in my hand, pointed directly at his face. I lean back in my chair feigning nonchalance. “Don’t take her virginity, but [penetrating her] from behind is fine,” he responds. “If she gets hurt, that is between you and her if she can take the pain or not.”

After the sheikh gives me some more advice – whatever you do, don’t meet her family. Don’t let them know where you live. In fact, a girl without family is better, you’ll have fewer problems that way – I leave his office.

I can’t believe what I’ve heard.

As our year-long investigation goes on to reveal, he’s not the only cleric offering such services. After dozens of meetings and repeated undercover filming sessions, I gather iron-clad proof that religious clerics, some of the most powerful people in Iraq, are not only allowing but encouraging underage prostitution with some of Iraq’s most vulnerable girls.

I was familiar with the concept of temporary marriages, and unfortunately child marriage is not uncommon in certain countries in the Middle East, including Iraq. But what really shocks me is discovering there are men who combine the two, preying on girls and young women displaced by the fighting in Mosul or who have fled their own abusive families, only to then cast them off in the street afterwards. That, and that the powerful forces orchestrating this underage sex trade hold such influential positions in society.

If anyone finds out what I’m doing, I thought, I’m a dead man.

I managed to leave Iraq without blowing the BBC’s cover, or having to hand over our footage to security officers. Now it was time to put the videos together with testimonies from the victims and wait for the film, Undercover With the Clerics: Iraq’s Secret Sex Trade to come out. The women and girls had experienced such horrors it defies description. We wondered, would there be repercussions for our team – or worse, for our sources who we’d fought so hard to protect? Could the film finally force some accountability onto the corrupt clerics, and put an end to their disgusting dealings? Could it even change someone’s life?

I was curious about the response, particularly from people inside Iraq. A few days later, I was scrolling through some of the YouTube comments on the Arabic-language version. One in particular caught my eye: “Come to the demonstration in Tahrir Square,” it said, seeming to address anyone who was watching. “Tomorrow we demand an end to these corrupt religious leaders in power.”

I still can’t reveal who I am, and I won’t be able to go back to Iraq for a while. But when I think about the sheikh, offering to pimp a child out to me, and the look in the eyes of the women BBC Arabic spoke to, it doesn’t matter. It was all worth it to bring the truth to light.

Alert 5G is a problem to satellites… at least – Defense Secretary says and espionage.

Not to mention it is microwaving us to death.

Ask yourself if FIBER optic (light) would be better?  Light is non-harmful, so if investment must be made, doesn’t it make more sense to use the least harmful? Not to mention it’s LIGHT.  Light is faster and “lighter” than cellular. This is not to say we should not use cellular in some applications, but maybe NOT everything.

Esper Exhorts Allies To Ban Chinese 5G: Britain’s Huawei Dilemma

London is on the verge of a much-delayed and debated decision about allowing Huawei to build “non-core” components of its 5G network.

WASHINGTON: Defense Secretary Mark Esper urged NATO allies to exclude Chinese companies from building their 5G networks during his recent European visit, the secretary revealed today.

While Esper didn’t say so aloud, this almost certainly included a plea to the UK government as it wrestles with whether to allow 5G tech from Chinese tech giant Huawei, which is now fighting heavy US sanctions. He’s also likely to have leaned on Germany, which recently rolled out its own 5G system while warning of threats from unspecified “nation-states.”

The UK controversy has already forced the ouster of then-Prime Minister Theresa May’s then-defence secretary, Gavin Williamson, for allegedly leaking May’s willingness to permit Huawei to provide “non-core” components. Williamson and other top advisors reportedly objected.

A big part of the problem with vague concept of “non-core”? One of 5G’s defining features is that it blurs the digital division of labor between the network’s core and individual cell towers. 5G makes the towers much more capable and gives them new roles, not just in smartphone networks, but in omnipresent Internet of Things functions on household devices and modern cars.

The 5G issue is one Esper tactfully did not raise in public during an earlier speech in London on the Chinese and Russian threats. That makes it all the more surprising he mentioned it in today’s remarks at a domestic cybersecurity conference hosted by the Homeland Security Department just outside DC.

What the Secretary Said

“Our ability to share information and operate on common communications networks serves as a force multiplier – but, it also comes with increased risk,” Esper said this afternoon. “To guard against this, we must help our allies develop their own cyber resiliency. One of the ways we are doing this is by encouraging them to maintain secure and reliable networks, particularly with respect to future telecommunications infrastructure. This is especially critical for countries with whom we have strong defense relationships.

“Two weeks ago, I traveled to Europe where I spoke with a couple of our NATO allies about the risks associated with allowing Chinese companies to develop 5G networks in their countries,” Esper continued. “The PRC is perpetrating the greatest intellectual property theft in human history. Every Chinese company has the potential to be an accomplice in Beijing’s state-sponsored campaign to steal technology.

“Nations that partner with Chinese firms put the security of their networks at risk,” Esper concluded. “This not only jeopardizes military interoperability and intelligence sharing, but can also compromise commercial institutions such as banks, hospitals, and media outlets. This is why it is so important that we work together from the very start to preserve the integrity of our cyber networks.”

The Context: From Ren Zhengfei to Boris Johnson

Although Esper did not mention Huawei by name, it is the most prominent of the Chinese companies suspected of planting backdoors in their code on behalf of Beijing’s espionage agencies, and the Trump administration has both banned any Huawei sales in the US — where it already had very little market share — and many US exports to Huawei — including critical software and hardware components the Shenzhen-based company would be hard-pressed to replace.

The company’s founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei — whose own daughter and heir-apparent was arrested in Canada last year at Washington’s urging — recently warned his employees it was in a “live or die moment” and then made a public offer to license the company’s 5G technology to all comers. (Even if the business deals could be worked out, fixing the security vulnerabilities would be a bear).

While Prime Minister May leaned towards letting Huawei in, her successor — and longtime Trump ally — Boris Johnson reportedly came under heavy US pressure to ban the Chinese firm, with the longstanding US-UK intelligence sharing agreement and perhaps the trade deal Johnson needs so desperately thanks to Brexit both potentially on the line. Johnson’s defence secretary, Ben Wallace, recently called for Huawei to show “fair play” if it wanted access to Britain. But he acknowledged the final decision has been delayed by the crisis over Brexit.

Meanwhile, the National Security Advisor who carried Trump’s warning on Huawei to London, John Bolton, has since been ousted by the mercurial president. That leaves Esper, who’s served in the Pentagon since 2017, as a key voice of continuity in the campaign to contain China launched by his predecessor, Jim Mattis.
